This glossary of terms intends to provide the TESDA key players, partners, and stakeholders an online and updated TVET information, concepts, to bring common understanding and clarification on the use of TESDA terminologies.

| Self-Evaluation Guide |
refers to the checklist, which the applicant-TVI shall accomplish to determine their relative scores against the indicators provided. The required evidence is also provided. This will help the applicant-TVIs determine if the program being applied for the STAR Program will meet the required points for the STAR Level.

| Semester |
refers to five (5) months period of continuous learning.

| Semestral System |
a system that divides the academic year into two (2) terms, often called the first and second semesters. Each term is approximately 18 weeks long, with a semestral break after each term

| Senior Citizen |
or elderly refers to any resident citizen of the Philippines at least sixty (60) years old.

| Sensitive Personal Information |
personal information about an individual’s race, ethnic origin, marital status, age, color, and religious, philosophical or political affiliation, individual’s health, education, the genetic or sexual life of a person, or to any proceeding for any offense committed or alleged to have been committed by such individual, the disposal of such proceedings or the sentence of any court in such proceedings, issued by government agencies peculiar to an individual which includes, but is not limited to, social security numbers, previous or current health records, licenses or its denials, suspension or revocation, and tax returns, and specifications established by executive order or an act of Congress to be kept classified.

| Shared Space |
a room or space that issued interchangeably and shared for either instruction of classes (lecture area) and that is not tied to a specific subject and/or used for formally or regularly scheduled instruction (including practical work area and laboratories) that require special purpose equipment or a particular configuration of space for student participation, experimentation, observation, or practice in an academic or technology discipline

| Short-Term High Level Skills Development |
refers to training conducted to acquire an in-depth knowledge at a specific field, with opportunities to attain specialized competencies in a related field of study which shall enable an individual to enrich their field of expertise.

| Shortened Training |
refers to training found to be conducted for a period less than the standard training duration upon inspection and verification by TESDA.
