Several indigenous communities in North Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat were the beneficiaries of the training programs conducted by the TESDA Provincial Office and Training Centers.

Twenty five members from the Blaan tribe are currently undergoing handloom weaving in Tulunan, North Cotabato and another 25 female tribe members from the Manobo-Tinoanon tribe living in Datu Ladayun, Municipality of Arakan will be the next batch for the program. The sessions are supervised by TESDA North Cotabato Provincial Director Norayah Acas, the Provincial Training Center-Kidapawan and the local government unit of Tulunan in coordination with the Charlie Coy, 39th Infantry Batallion of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). The Department of Trade and Industry - General Santos also donated weaving materials for the program.
According to trainer Gloria Laman, the training aims to preserve the culture of weaving in tribal communities which is affected by the modern times.

On the other hand, 50 beneficiaries also belonging to the indigenous communities in Sitio Tupi and Barangay Midtungok in Senator Ninoy Aquino, Sultan Kudarat will finally have lights on their homes under the Project TALA or TESDA Alay ay Liwanag at Asenso.
The Project TALA—in coordination with the regional military personnel of the AFP and the Philippine National Police—will conduct training programs on solar panel installation where the trainees will also receive allowances and solar panels after the training. Project TALA started in 2019 that aims to provide solar energy to geographically isolated areas in Region 12 that have not been reached by regular electricity distribution lines.

All these programs are under the Poverty Reduction Livelihood and Employment Cluster in Region 12 under the government’s “whole-of-nation” approach in ending insurgencies in the country by giving essential government services and livelihood opportunities to former rebels and residents in conflict-filled areas.
