In response to TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña’s call for immediate assistance to the victims of typhoon Odette, TESDA Region X continues to extend help to communities who are still suffering from the aftermath of the typhoon. 

The TESDA Lanao del Norte deployed its Cluster Operating Units which is composed of TESDA provincial and regional offices as well as TESDA Training Institutions to nearby affected communities. The team, led by Provincial Director Noralaine Rasul, is comprised of Salvador Trade School, Lanao Norte National Agro-Industrial School, Provincial Training Center- Lanao del Norte and Regional Training Center-Iligan. The group helped in assessing damaged houses and distributing relief goods in Barangays Titunod, Simbuco, Manga and Baybay Tinagsa in the municipality of Kolambugan and in some small communities in the municipality of Matungao. The cluster will continue to assess and eventually, help rebuild damaged homes in other areas. 

On the other hand, TESDA Region X, led by Regional Director Ashary Banto, also deployed an augmentation team from Misamis Occidental to also help in the rehabilitation of damaged houses as well as the distribution of relief goods in Camiguin Island. The team, headed by Provincial Director John Simborios, is made up of trainers on Masonry, Carpentry and Electrical Installation from the Provincial Training Center – Misamis Occidental and Oroquieta Agro-Industrial School. One hundred residents from the Municipality of Guinsiliban were able to receive relief goods and some of them will have their houses assessed while 11 inhabitants from the municipality of Mambajao have also received their relief goods and will also have their homes assessed. TESDA Camiguin Provincial Director Braulio dela Peña expressed gratitude to TESDA Misamis Occidental as well

The deployment of TESDA teams to Odette-affected areas is part of the “Buddy System”  of TESDAmayan initiative where TESDA Regional Offices will mobilize their augmentation teams for a well-coordinated, faster and efficient delivery of assistance programs. Aside from the assistance, TESDA will also conduct training on various courses such as Basic Masonry, Carpentry, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Electrical Installation, Plumbing, Photovoltaic Systems Installation and Food Production.
