A total of 69 farmers in Sarangani Province are now Technical Education and Skills Development Authority - (TESDA) certified workers after receiving their respective National Certificates (NCs).

According to TESDA Region XII, 50 of the farmers finished training on AgriPreneurship NC II under Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program (RCEF) while 19 have completed training on Organic Agriculture Production NC II.

In his message, TESDA Sarangani-General Santos Provincial Director El Cid Castillo challenged the farmers to use the knowledge they have learned from TESDA to improve the agriculture sector in the country.

Castillo added that farming can help Filipinos recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Aside from the national certificates, the trainees have also received their personal protective equipment (PPE) and internet allowance.

Under the leadership of Secretary Isidro Lapeña, TESDA has listed agriculture as among its priority sectors in its scholarship allocation. He had noted that strengthening the agriculture sector can help the country achieve food security.

“TESDA is actively pursuing agriculture programs nationwide. Food sufficiency is a concern not only of the country’s agriculture areas and rice producing regions. This a cause of concern of all areas, including urbanized cities,” Lapeña had said. ###
