TESDA Region VI continues its advocacy on agriculture with training programs held in different areas in Iloilo.

Twenty-five beneficiaries from Barangay Jona, Tubungan, Iloilo are currently training for Grains Production NC II at the New Lucena Polytechnic College supervised by trainer John Parra. The program is under Project TAMPAD (Tampad nga Serbisyo Alay sa Masa Pa-adto sa Asenso kag Dunang Pag-ugwad) in fulfillment of Executive Order 70 or the National Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict.  Project TAMPAD is also under the Barangay Development Program (BDP) of the TESDA-led Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) where Barangay Jona is one of the identified 822 barangays for the BDP.

The training started on December 6, 2021 and is expected to finish by February 21, 2022. The barangay will also conduct Raise Organic Hogs (Leading to Organic Agriculture Production NC II) this year.

The Regional Training Center (RTC)-Iloilo also conducted training on Organic Agriculture Production NC II to twenty-five beneficiaries—including one PWD (Person With Disabilty) and five senior citizens—of Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP). The training aims to teach the trainees living in the urban areas to utilize a small area to produce organic crops. Supervised by trainer Leslie Ann Lagrada, the skills training also included production of organic concoctions and fertilizers.

The TWSP aims to fill up the skills gaps and job requirements of priority industries with high employment demand as well as improve the quality of TVET education in the grassroots.
