A total of 225 members of Blaan tribe in Sarangani is set to receive skills training programs under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region XII.

Recently, members of the Provincial Training Center (PTC) – Malapatan and the 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army visited Sitio Nobol in Barangay Kinam in the municipality of Malapatan.

According to PTC-Malapatan Administrator Hernan Forro, despite the rains and muddy roads, they have successfully brought solar panels which will be used for Project TALA or TESDA Alay ay Liwanag at Asenso. 

Aside from Project TALA, they have also launched the ang Project IPEACE or Indigenous Peoples Empowered as Agriprenuer towards a Collective End which aims to increasing agricultural productivity in indigenous people (IP) communities and attain food security.

A total of 100 residents of the said sitio will receive training on Photovoltaic (PV) System Installation and Maintenance while 125 are set to undergo skills training on agriculture courses.

Meanwhile, TESDA Region XII is set to visit more Sitios in Sarangani Province. This includes Sitio Datal Bukay in the municipality of Glan.

As the lead agency of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), TESDA has been going to far-flung communities in the country to empower its residents through livelihood and other skills training. ###
