Some 60,000 skilled workers, trainers and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates and graduating students are expected to benefit from the first National TVET Competency Assessment and Certification (NATCAC) Week which will be held on three separate dates this year across the country.
The first assessment will be held from March 28-April 1 in all TESDA centers and administered schools nationwide.
TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva said if the students are able to hurdle all the required competencies, they will be given a national certificate which they can use in applying for jobs in fields that are highly in demand and good-paying.
The assessment and certification are free of charge.
Villanueva stressed that one of synchronized assessment's primary objectives is to increase the number of certified Filipino workers andnTVET graduates so they can be qualified for good jobs.
“Likewise, we want to strengthen the scale and popularity of the assessment program and undertake an advocacy to raise people’s awareness about it,”Villanueva said.
NATCAC is a simultaneous conduct of competency assessment and certification in identified key qualifications that are hard to find but with high industry demand.
“It will be a week- long activity, wherein assessment and certification will be offered for free at the regional and provincial levels funded by the Training for Work Scholarship Program of TESDA,” Villanueva said.
The assessment is available to skilled workers, TVET graduates and graduating students of registered programs in the following courses: Construction(Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC III, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Masonry NC III, Plumbing NC II, Carpentry NC III, SMAW NC III, SMAW NC II and Construction Painting NC III), ICT (Visual Graphics NC III, 2D Animation NC III, 3D Animation NC III, Programming NC IV, Computer Hardware Servicing NC II), Electronics (Mechatronics NC III, Instrumentation NC III, Consumer Electronics Servicing III).
It is likewise available in courses in Tourism (Food and Beverage Services NC II and III, Commercial Cooking NC II, Bread and Pastry Making NC II, Housekeeping NC III, Housekeeping NC II and Events Management Services NC III and Automotive and Land Transport(Automotive Servicing NC II and III and Driving NC III).
Those who wish to apply for the first batch may secure the assessment application form from any of the TESDA Regional and Provincial/District Offices and TTIs nationwide. The form may also be downloaded from the TESDA website at www.tesda.gov.ph.

All interested applicants must submit the duly accomplished application form, self-assessment guide, three passport-sized pictures with their name written at the back and forward these to the nearest TESDA Provincial/District Office and TTIs. Deadline for submission of application is March 15.
The TESDA Provincial/District Offices are in charge of the processing of the application. They will also be the one to inform the applicant of his/her assessment schedule.
During pre-assessment activities, the Regional Offices will select from the identified qualifications, the list of qualifications to be offered during the assessment week based on the market demand per region. They will also prepare the final list of applicants per qualification, per venue and per schedule.
The NATCAC committee will also monitor the conduct of assessment activities during the assessment week.
Each TESDA Regional/Provincial/District Office will establish a certificate issuance desk to facilitate the printing and releasing of the National Certificate orCertificate of Competency on the last day of the assessment week.
TESDA will also announce and publish the list of applicants who pass the assessment in newspapers.
