The Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has forged a partnership with the online job facilitation company JobStreet.com to help find relevant jobs for its students after finishing their courses.
Signing a Memorandum of Agreement on Friday, TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva and JobStreet.com Philippines Inc. general manager Mary Grace Colet said the partnership will give access to TESDA graduates to use the firm’s job matching services and jobseeker sign-up facility for possible employment right after graduation.
"We are pleased to be a partner of JobStreet.com, one of the leading human resource listing and job matching firms that is internationally-recognized,” Villanueva said.
“Only one thing comes to mind when we hear about JobStreet.com – Jobs – and probably, this is what all TESDA students would be aiming to have after finishing their courses. TESDA and JobStreet will bring jobs to their doorsteps,” he said.
TESDA's partnership with JobStreet.com for job matching comes at no cost to the agency.
Villanueva said he hopes this would be replicated with similar tie-ups with other online job facilitation companies.
Under the agreement, JobStreet.com will provide a job section page in TESDA’s website (http://www.tesda.gov.ph) that will show real-time job openings for local and overseas jobs for the technical vocational graduates.
The names of the graduates will also be available to JobStreet.com’s employer base for job matching.
For its part, TESDA will endorse all its graduates to sign up for a JobStreet.com account so that the information would be readily available to prospective employers.
TESDA partner companies, on the other hand, will be able to post their job vacancies for technical/ vocational/ skilled workers that can be viewed in the job portals of www.jobstreet.com and http://www.tesda.gov.ph.
Under the agreement, TESDA will be able to regularly monitor the number of total sign-ups, total number of applications, total number of job positions applied to by TESDA graduates and total number of resumes of graduates referred/ retrieved by JobStreet.com employers.
"With this partnership, we could easily raise the absorption rate of TESDA graduates from last year's 28 percent to our current target of 55 percent," Villanueva said.
