MANILA, Philippines — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has encouraged students to check its accreditation first to make sure that the school offering technical vocational education is registered.
TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva said that there are many technical vocational schools nationwide that are not accredited by TESDA. “I feel sorry for the students who study so hard only to find out later on that his school, or the course he took, does not have the TESDA Certificate of Registration.”
Villanueva also expressed disappointment over instances when students are “duped” to enroll in so-called fly-by-night schools that do not meet the standard for quality technical and skills education and training.
“These students are at risk of facing problems, at times, not being immediately hired by employers needing skilled workers because these students could not be assessed by TESDA,” Villanueva added.
