8 vocational schools face closure

MANILA, Philippines - At least eight vocational schools in Luzon face possible closure for failing to comply with the standards, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) said yesterday.

TESDA director general Joel Villanueva declined to identify the schools being investigated pending the conclusion of their analysis and assessment.

But Villanueva said the six schools facing compliance audit have been offering various courses in information technology as well as electronics, automotives, cosmetology, and shielded metal arc welding, while the programs under closure proceedings in the two other schools include deck seafaring NC II and security services NC I and NC II.
