After months of nationwide search, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) announced it has chosen the finalists in the Tatak TESDA Video Making Contest.

The grand winners will come from the Top 20 entry senders composed of 10 technical vocational (tech-voc) graduates and 10 tech-voc institutions, which submitted the best videos documenting their success stories in taking the technical vocational education and training (TVET) path.

The Awards Night is scheduled on Thursday, May 1, at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) Grand Theater in Paranaque City.

Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA Director General, will lead the event, together with about a thousand tech-voc graduates; representatives of tech-voc institutions and industry organizations; heads of national government agencies; and other guests.

The winners – Best in Video, Best Story, People's Choice Award, Grand Winner – both in the individual and the institution categories will be selected during the awards night by a panel of judges.

Cash prizes and scholarship vouchers totalling to P2 million are at stake in the nationwide contest.

Villanueva hailed all tech-voc graduates and institutions who participated in the contest, and encouraged them to continue being the lead in inspiring the youth to get into TVET.

"We hope the extraordinary stories of ordinary people captured on video, like our finalists, will rouse other people to believe that technical vocational education can lead to fruitful results," he said.

The TESDA chief said the contest also gave the public a preview of the programs and projects of the agency, including the variety of courses that trainees can engage in.

The video entries submitted were in the form of dramatization, storytelling or music video and answered this question: How did your tech-voc training change your life? The closing statement included "Ako si ________, Tatak TESDA."

The 137 entries that passed the criteria of the screening committee were uploaded at TESDA's Facebook page.
