Technical vocational graduates of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority became the most wanted among companies in a job fair organized for the CALABARZON region, one of the country's industrialized areas.

At least 50 firms and employers joined the event dubbed Jobs, Opportunities and Livelihood for TESDA Specialistas organized for the Cavite-Laguna-Batangas-Rizal-Quezon region.

Close to 2,000 TESDA graduates participated in the fair.

The TESDA, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and local government units organized the jobs fair held on May 7 at SM Taytay, Rizal.

"Skills training and job assistance make a holistic approach to the problems of our youth," Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA director general, said.

"The worst part of being young is not being able to use all the energy, creativity and enthusiasm to a work fit for you," he said.

For the job fair, the online recruitment network JobsDB assisted in inviting local and international companies, including recruitment agencies.

Armed with their credentials, the Specialistas came face to face with their prospective employers and discussed possibilities for employment in a job that matches their skills.

Villanueva said TESDA, in coordination with DOLE and local government units, and the private sector will ramp up efforts to offer as many job fairs for graduates all over the country.

"The economy is on the rebound and continuous to grow. Getting as many people into the workforce indicates that the benefits of a good economy is trickling down to the poorest sectors of society," he said.

This event was in partnership with other national government agencies, private tech-voc providers, TESDA technological institutes, companies and recruitment agencies.

Local executives of Rizal also graced the event, including Governor Casimiro Ynares III, Representative Joel Duavit and Mayor Joric Gacula.
