Earth Day in Malolos in Bulacan will be celebrated with a fusion of live music and environmental education with a concert and a series of seminars on caring for Mother Earth.

A concert with the theme Pintig ng Kalikasan: Buhay ng Sangkatuhan will feature multi-awarded musician and composer Noel Cabangon on April 19, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Malolos Convention and Sports Complex.

The Diocese of Malolos Ecology Desk -  DEEP (Diocesan Ecological and Environmental Program) in partnership with the Hearts of Jesus & Mary Parish in the City of Malolos will organize the event.

"The concert is an event that will fuse live music and environmental education, and hopes to deepen people’s commitment towards being environmentally responsible," the group said.

In the run up to Earth Day, DEEP held a lecture series centered on caring for the environment, including proper waste management and promotion of organic methods.

It also spearheaded mangrove planting in Pamarawan in Malolos and in the towns of Hagonoy and Paombong and tree planting activities in the Sierra Madre mountain.

Through the years, DEEP has been in the forefront of raising environmental issues and promoting ways to care for it.

Environmental Care and Protection was one of the key highlights in the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Diocese of Malolos from 2012 to 2013.

A conference statement signed the Most Rev. Jose F. Oliveros, D.D. Bishop of the Diocese of Malolos, DEEP’s Director Fr. Efren Basco with other 140 Clergy, 105 Religious communities and 132 parish and school leaders in the diocese  re-affirmed their commitment to care for the environment and do their share to propagate their advocacy to the public.

"We affirm that the whole universe reveals God’s manifold blessings and acknowledge our responsibility as caretakers of God’s dwelling place. There is only one air, water and land system on planet Earth. Upon these interrelated systems, the health and survival of all forms and all peoples depend. Damage to one part of a system affects the whole system; damage to one system affects the other systems,” the statement said.

The concert aims to gather groups to a "meaningful activity of great exuberance which speaks directly to our times," DEEP said.

"It’s the perfect time to show and tell why concerts are the perfect venue to teach stewardship of the planet.Addressing the beauty of creation as well as its destruction by humankind, this concert is both a call to action and a cry of hope; it promises to be an unforgettable experience for all who will attend it," it added.

Tickets are sold at P100.00 and  available at the different parishes in Malolos and at the venue on April 19 at the Malolos Convention and Sports Complex, McArthur Hiway, Malolos City.
