Employers in need of workers with the right skills for their companies can turn to the province of Bulacan that recently produced its fresh batch of technical vocational education and training (TVET) graduates.

A total of 1,230 students who finished different courses as scholars of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) were feted in a ceremony last week.

The graduates were all beneficiaries of TESDA's Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP).

"TESDA, local government units and training institutions are deepening their alliances to better prepare students for jobs in priority and critical skills in various industry sectors particularly in tourism, business process outsourcing,  health, construction, agri-business,  and electronics," Secretary Joel Villanueva said.

"This batch of graduates is Bulacan's contribution to the workforce that industries need," added the TESDA director general, who hails from the province.

Following the graduation ceremony, a total of 250 graduates received starter kits that they can use to start their own small business.

The graduates completed their courses in different programs, namely: Consumer Electronics NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, Massage Therapy NC II, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Housekeeping NC II, Bartending NC II and Bread and Pastry Production NC II.

Villanueva underscored the value of TVET in enhancing one's skills toward productivity and employability.

Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, who also graced the event, affirmed his support in the promotion of technical education in the province through financial assistance for skills training.
