Technical vocational students in the province of Rizal now have a new classroom, and it’s on wheels. The Mobile Training Bus Plus of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) headed to this province east of Manila on Tuesday to conduct skills training programs to interested students.

Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA Director General, complemented the arrival of the training bus with the distribution of a total of 133 scholarship vouchers under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP).

The bus was equipped with tables and chairs, computers that are networked and other learning materials needed by the students.

Some of the courses under the program include Small Engine/Motorcycle Servicing, Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM), Computer Hardware Servicing, Haircutting, Massage Therapy and Community Disaster Management Program.

“This is TESDA’s innovative approach to bring the training services to the grassroots level,” Villanueva said.

“We want to spread our programs to as many Filipinos and open up opportunities to our youth to gain and hone their skills, which they can use for employment or to start their own business later,” he added.

Launched in February, the Mobile Training Bus Plus complements the classroom training given by TESDA through its own technology institutes and partner institutions.

The Mobile Training Bus has given training in many areas, focusing on the poorest communities in Quezon City, Marikina City, Cavite City, Batangas, Laguna, and several areas in the Visayas and Mindanao.

The buses came from private donations, showcasing the strong public-private partnership between TESDA and the donors.

Local executives of Rizal welcomed the mobile training facility in ceremonies held Tuesday, led by Governor CasimiroYnares III, Representative Joel Roy Duavit, Vice Governor Frisco San Juan, Mayor Ramon Ilagan and Barangay Chairman Wilfredo Felix.
