Cavite, one of the country's industrial estates, became the next destination of the mobile training program of The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to rev up technical vocational education and training (TVET) in the province.
Secretary Joel Villanueva said the agency will infuse P6 million to fund the scholars, who will be trained in the mobile classroom on various courses as well as for the regular programs to be conducted in selected TVET institutions under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP).
The Mobile Training plus (Park and Train) bus recently hit Cavite's road, carrying with it state-of-the-art computers and other gadgets to give skills development a new spin.
"Being a favorite destination of investors, we want to help Cavite sustain its manpower development by producing highly qualified and skilled workforce for these industries," Villanueva, TESDA Director General, said.
Villanueva said the mobile learning center is suited to reach out especially to the youth who want to avail of free training so they can later on seek employment in the various firms operating in the province.
Scholarship vouchers will be offered for the four courses that will be conducted in the mobile center, namely, Computer Hardware Servicing, Consumer Electrical Servicing, Security Services, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
TESDA will spend P1 million of the P6 million fund for this.
The agency identified accredited training institutions as partners in carrying out the training.
Villanueva said the commitment of the local executive to help implement the training showed a strong partnership between TESDA and the local government unit in pushing for TVET as a viable option for youth and the unemployed.
"We know that money is being put to good purpose when used for education. It's impact will go a long way," he said.
Cavite welcomed the mobile classroom when it wheeled through the province last July 13 at the Bacoor National High school.
Joining Villanueva in the launch were Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., Governor Jonvic Remulla, Mayor Strike Revilla, and board member Jolo Revilla.During the event, TESDA also sponsored free hair cut to students of the Bacoor High School.
The bus is equipped with multi-media equipment, computers, tools, training chairs and other supplies needed for training students on short courses.
