The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with LinkedIn Singapore Pte Ltd, marking a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to equip the Filipino workforce with future-ready digital skills and improve employment outcomes.
Signed by TESDA Secretary Kiko Benitez and LinkedIn Vice President David Woodward, the MOU outlines the shared commitment of both organizations to collaborate on initiatives aimed at upskilling and reskilling TESDA students, employees, and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) workers.
“This partnership with LinkedIn reflects TESDA’s commitment to align technical vocational education and training with the evolving demands of the digital economy,” Secretary Benitez said.
Under this collaboration, LinkedIn will offer TESDA stakeholders with access to over 23,000 LinkedIn learning courses; customized “LinkedIn 101” training content for graduating students, focusing on profile creation and platform onboarding; and, talent insights and advisory support for TESDA’s leadership to help refine its skills and job frameworks.
The partnership also provides a “Train-the-Trainer” program for TESDA career counselors and faculty, enabling broader integration of LinkedIn tools in TESDA’s career guidance initiatives; and inclusion of TESDA as a “Data for Impact” partner, granting access to LinkedIn’s Economic Graph insights for evidence-based workforce policy and program development.
Secretary Benitez emphasized the importance of aligning skills training to industry needs and the need to enhance public-private partnerships to address perennial problems of skills-job mismatch and unemployment.
“By leveraging LinkedIn’s tools and global platform, we aim to enhance employability and career preparedness among Filipinos, particularly in the fast-growing BPO sector,” the TESDA chief added.
This collaboration is a key part of TESDA’s broader strategy to modernize its programs, support digital transformation, and ensure inclusive access to quality lifelong learning.
