Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to assist Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), particularly those who have been affected by the ongoing conflict in Lebanon.

TESDA Director General, Secretary Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez emphasized that the agency stands ready to offer a wide range of free skills training programs and livelihood designed to help returning workers rebuild their careers or explore entrepreneurial opportunities.

“Our OFWs have made tremendous sacrifices to support their families and contribute to our economy. It is only fitting that we, in turn, provide them with the support they need to reintegrate and succeed as they return home,” Secretary Benitez said.

“Through our programs, we aim to offer not just training but a new start — whether through employment or entrepreneurship — to help them rebuild their lives with dignity,” he added.

OFWs from Lebanon are expected to return to the country from October 11-29, 2024.

These returning workers may approach TESDA personnel stationed at different airport terminals to inquire about how training services may be availed.

According to Secretary Benitez, TESDA will issue a Certificate of Commitment to returning OFWs as proof of scholarship assistance from TESDA.

TESDA is part of the whole-of-government approach led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which mobilizes agencies such as the DMW, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, and the Department of Foreign Affairs to respond to the urgent needs of repatriated workers.

Notably, returning workers can also access TESDA's Online Programs, which offer a variety of online courses for flexible learning.

For more information on enrollment and program offerings, returning OFWs can also visit TESDA's website at www.tesda.gov.ph or reach out to the TESDA hotline at (02) 8887-7777.
