Competitors from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region XI emerged victorious in the recently concluded 2024 Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC).

During the closing ceremony last August 25, the agency proclaimed Region XI as the overall champion after garnering five gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.

The National Capital Region (NCR) was the first runner-up with five gold, three silver, and one bronze medals, while Region IV-A was the second runner-up with four gold, three silver, and two bronze medals.

Around 200 competitors from 17 regions across the Philippines battled it out in 25 skill areas during the three-day competition held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila on August 22-24.

Aside from bronze, silver, and gold medals, winners received cash prizes in the amount of ₱15,000, ₱20,000, and ₱30,000 respectively. Gold medal winners in the 2024 PNSC earned a chance to represent the country in the WorldSkills ASEAN Competition to be hosted by the Philippines in 2025.

In his message delivered by Deputy Director General Rosanna A. Urdaneta, Director General Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez emphasized the importance of skills development for the country’s growth and success.

“You have proven that the skills of Filipino professionals are exceptional – that the future of the Philippines is in capable hands – hands that build, create, innovate, and solve the challenges of tomorrow,” DG Benitez said, addressing delegates.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director General Vidal D. Villanueva III, Chairperson for the National Organizing Committee (NOC), thanked industry partners who supported TESDA in the conduct of the 2024 PNSC.

“Let us continue to empower the future by advancing skills, embracing innovation, and nurturing the talent that will lead our nation to greater heights,” the TESDA official said in his speech.

Region XI was the 1st runner-up overall in the 2023 PNSC.

Also present during the closing ceremony were TESDA Deputy Directors General Nelly Nita N. Dillera and Felizardo R. Colambo, TESDA Executive and Assistant Executive Directors, TESDA Regional, Provincial, and District Directors, and representatives from industry partners.
