The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) kicked off its weeklong 30th Anniversary celebration today, August 19, at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

With the theme “TESDA 30th: Continuing Legacy of Empowering Filipinos, Elevating Global Competence,” the event underscores the agency’s commitment to enhancing the skills of the Filipino workforce, fostering both local empowerment and global competitiveness for the last three decades.

According to TESDA Spokesperson and Chair of the Anniversary Steering Committee, Deputy Director General Vidal D. Villanueva III, the agency has lined up various events to celebrate and commemorate National Tech-Voc Day, and the role that the agency has been playing in delivering quality technical vocational education and training to Filipinos for the past 30 years.

“We have prepared different activities for this year’s anniversary celebration. We are celebrating TESDA’s anniversary in a bigger venue. Throughout the celebration, we will showcase our services and programs to make our kababayans more aware of what we have to offer them,” the TESDA official said.

Highlighting the anniversary celebration, TESDA will hold the 2024 Philippine National Competition (PNSC) from August 21 to 25 which will feature over 200 competitors nationwide vying for medals and cash prizes in 25 different skill areas.

Aside from witnessing the competition, visitors can explore the exhibits, participate in interactive activities, and see the programs and services that TESDA offers.

Further, on August 20, TESDA, in partnership with the Philippine Business for Education (PBEd) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will hold a TVET forum with the theme “SkillStorm: The Power of TVET Unleashed”.

Likewise, on August 22, TESDA will honor its outstanding partners who have helped the Agency to make TVET accessible and relevant to Filipinos during the annual National Kabalikat Awarding Ceremony.

On the same day, TESDA will also honor tech-voc graduates who have achieved exceptional success in their chosen fields or occupations and have aided in the growth of their local economies.

On August 23, TESDA will hold its TESDA Model Employee and Loyalty Awarding ceremony for its employees who excelled in the performance of their duties. Top performing Regional and Provincial Offices will also be recognized with the TESDA Organizational Excellence Award.

Also, TESDA Regional and Provincial Offices, in collaboration with their respective industry partners, will hold jobs linkage and enrollment activities as part of the National Tech-Voc Day celebrations to help tec-voc graduates find jobs, and for the public to avail of TESDA’s different scholarships.

Meanwhile, on August 24, TESDA, in partnership with the Jobstreet Philippines, will conduct education and career guidance for Senior High School students.

DDG Villanueva expressed his confidence that TESDA will remain steadfast in its mission to build a skilled, productive, and globally competitive Filipino workforce and it will continue to be a vital force in the nation's development for many years to come.

"For 30 years, TESDA has been a beacon of hope for many Filipinos, providing opportunities for education and employment that have transformed lives and communities. As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering world-class TVET programs that meet the evolving needs of the labor market,” the DDG Villanueva said.

The celebrations are in line with Republic Act No. 7796 or the TESDA Act of 1994, and RA 10970 which declares every 25th of August as “National Tech-Voc Day”.
