The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) continues to demonstrate its dedication to quality management and has again earned the recertification of its key processes by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

During its regular flag-raising ceremony on July 15, TESDA was conferred with the ISO 9001:2015 recertification for its core processes of standards development, assessment and certification, and program registration by the TUV SUD PSB Philippines, Inc.

In his message, TESDA Director General, Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu said that the recognition is testament to TESDA’s unwavering adherence to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

“ISO 9001 Certification is not just a badge of honor or an emblem of distinction; it embodies our united endeavor for quality and it is a reflection of our collective efforts to uphold the highest standards of quality in everything we do,” the Secretary said.

“It signifies our commitment to customer satisfaction, process efficiency, and continual improvement. By adhering to these principles, we are not only meeting the needs of our customers but also exceeding their expectations,” he added.

It can be recalled that TESDA’s ISO certification journey started in 2009, and in 2012 TESDA became the first government education agency in the country to have its key processes ISO-certified.

In 2015, TESDA received its nationwide ISO 9001:2008 certification in a ceremony held in Malacañang Palace which then President Benigno S. Aquino III witnessed. Further, in 2018, TESDA transitioned to the new version, ISO 9001:2015.  Likewise, TESDA was conferred its 2015 Philippine Quality Award Level 1- “Recognition for Commitment to Quality Management” by then President Rodrigo R. Duterte in October 2018.

Meanwhile, for her part, Deputy Director General Rosanna A. Urdaneta, who also serves as TESDA’s National Quality Manager, shared that the agency is keen to expand its ISO certification and pursue ISO 21001:2018 certification for Educational Organization Management System of TESDA Technology Institutions’ processes such as enrolment and admission, conduct of training and institutional assessment, and issuance of training certificate.

“We will ensure that TESDA remains a leader in education and training, setting the standard for quality and excellence,” the TESDA official committed.

The ISO recertification was conferred by TUV SUD PSB Philippines, Inc. headed by General Manager Gabor Bohner. The TUV SUD PSB is the country’s leading multinational certification and inspection body, which provides inspection, certification, evaluation, validation, training, and testing services.

Since 1947, the ISO has been certifying the adherence of government and private enterprises to worldwide industrial and commercial standards of excellence. ISO international standards ensure that products and services are safe, reliable, and of good quality.
