The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) formally signed Memoranda of Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding with various government agencies and a local government unit in a mass MOA signing ceremony on July 10 in Taguig City.

According to TESDA’s Director General, Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu, the agency’s partnerships with the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), and the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur are proof of the government’s steadfast dedication to the enhancement of the nation’s human capital.

“These collaborations with NAPC, COMELEC, and the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur are not mere formalities; they are a testament to our unwavering commitment to education, skills development, and human resources advancement. By joining forces, we address critical challenges such as unemployment, underemployment, and the persistent skills gap,” the TESDA Secretary said in his speech.

The collaboration between TESDA and NAPC will strengthen the two agencies’ efforts in reaching target beneficiaries and priority clients under fourteen identified basic sectors: artisanal fisherfolks; children; cooperatives; farmers and landless rural workers; formal labor and migrant workers; indigenous people; non-government organizations; senior citizens; urban poor, persons with disabilities; victims of disaster and calamities; women; workers in the informal sector; and youth and students. This partnership aims to make the national government’s training and livelihood programs more accessible to those who are most in need of skills and technical development and support.

Further, TESDA’s partnership with the COMELEC will promote voter education through pre-taped seminars and orientations on the registration process and requirements, and other crucial information needed by voters before participating in the upcoming elections.

Alongside the mass MOA signing with national government agencies, the TESDA Women’s Center (TWC) also inked a partnership with the Provincial Government of Maguindanao del Sur to formulate long- and short- plans for the implementation of technical assistance for the development of the Institutional Development Plan (IDPP 2024-2028), skills training, digitalization and innovation, gender and development (GAD) initiatives, and entrepreneurial activities.

“Our commitment to excellence in TVET knows no bounds. By providing equitable access to these programs, we contribute to a more inclusive society. A society where everyone has the chance to succeed, prosper, and make meaningful contributions,” the TESDA Secretary added.

Meanwhile, after the signing ceremony, COMELEC conducted a demonstration to familiarize voters with the features of the new automated counting machines to be used in the 2025 midterm elections.

Also present during the event were Comelec Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia; TESDA Deputy Directors General Rosanna A. Urdaneta, Vidal D. Villanueva III, and Nelly Nita N. Dillera; and, Atty. Cyrus Torreña representing Maguindanao Del Sur Governor Mariam S. Mangudadatu.
