The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has recognized outstanding technical vocational education and training (TVET) trainers nationwide with an electrical installation trainer named overall winner.
Jovencio F. Panida, an Electrical Installation Maintenance (EIM) NC II trainer at the Regional Training Center - La Union, was conferred the 2023 National Tagsanay Award Overall Winner in a ceremony held at Glass Garden Events Venue in Pasig City.
Aside from being the 2023 National Tagsanay Award Overall Winner, Panida was also vested the Best Trainer Experience Award.
In his message, TESDA Secretary Suharto T. Mangudadatu congratulated all the TVET trainers and encouraged them to innovate and upskill themselves to be ready to provide Industry 4.0 - ready skills to Filipinos.
“Trainers must continuously adapt to the ever-evolving demands of industries and evolving educational methodologies. in the same way, we expect creativity, innovation, critical thinking. and systems thinking skills from our learners, our trainers must lead by example. We rely on you to foster creativity, drive innovation, critically analyze information, and connect concepts holistically our trainers must have 21st-century, transversal, and science, technology. engineering. art, and mathematics or STEM skills." the TESDA chief said.
"These skills are not only crucial for navigating the challenges posed by any industrial revolution but are also fundamental for shaping a resilient workforce prepared to confront the uncertainties of the future." he added.
Meanwhile, the first runner-up was Richgielle Cheynard Vinarao of the Isabela School of Arts and Trades (ISAT) while RTC Calabarzon trainer Maribel Arellano came second runner-up
Other awardees were Mary Grace L. Ocasion of Region IlI who bagged the "Best Portfolio Award" Connie S. Villagracia of National Capital Region for the "Most Knowledge in TVET Award"; Elvis Baes of Region IV-B as "Best in Data Gathering and Processing": Jennifer B. Sarillo of Region XI with the "Leadership Award"; Amy N. Mabatid of Region IX with the 'Creativity Award"; and Erwin G. Labadan of Region X as "Best in Training Package Enhancement" and "Best in Communication."
In his message, Panida expressed his gratitude to TESDA and the people behind his success He emphasized that being qualified at the national level for the annual TESDA award for TVET trainers is enough accomplishment.
“Success is not to be measured by how many times you fall, but success is measured by how strong you rise," Panida said, congratulating his fellow Tagsanay Award nominees.
The Tagsanay Award is an annual celebration that aims to recognize and commend the contributions of TVET trainers in public and private technical vocational institutions across the country. It includes incentives like cash prizes, plaques of excellence, and certificates of distinction.
Also present during the awarding ceremony were Deputy Directors General Rosanna Urdaneta and Vidal Villanueva III, Executive Directors David Bugallon, Rosalina Constantino, and Juliet Orozco, and other TESDA officials and partners from Hytec, Samsung, and Teacher Education Council (TEC) among others.
