Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General, Secretary Suharto Mangudadatu, encouraged TESDA Technology Institutions (TTIS) to spearhead innovations in their respective programs.

Sec. Mangudadatu also highlighted the need to conduct capacity building for TESDA personnel through in-house programs, immersions and exchange programs.

“As TESDA administrators, please take the lead in reinventing ad restyling your institution’s programs, systems, and mechanisms through innovation in [technical vocational education and training],” he said.

The Administrators’ Conference, which was conducted last June 26-27 at the TESDA Auditorium, is a regular activity for the TTI administrators that serves as a venue to disseminate policies, programs, and plans, resolve operating issues, and concerns, and share best practices.

It was conducted with the theme “Revitalizing TVET Programs, Services, and Delivery,” with the aim to capacitate TTI administrators to be more responsive and innovative in delivering TVET programs to its clients and stakeholders.

Among the topics discussed were the functions and programs of TTIs, updates on the Philippine TVET Trainer's Qualification Framework (PTTQF), Diploma Programs, and accomplishments of TTIs based on targets, scholarship programs, and concerns on financial and administrative matters, among others.

Meanwhile, Sec. Mangudadatu reiterated his 10-point agenda for the agency. These are: TESDA sa Barangay, Review of TESDA Training Regulations, Prioritize the Marginalized Sectors by Providing Training Programs to Address Skills Mismatch and Meet the Demands of the Industry, Continuous Monitoring of Training Program Implementation of Schools to Ensure Compliance with TESDA’s Policies and Guidelines, Enhanced Online Application, Promotion of Rural Enterprises and Area Development through TVET Programs, Youthpreneurship, TESDA Industry Exchange Program, Halal TVET, and Strengthening and Regeneration of the Internal Structure of the Agency.

“Tech-voc is not just about acquiring skills and competencies, it is about improving the economic and social standing of the Filipino workforce,” Sec. Mangudadatu said, highlighting the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

The PDP 2023-2023 aims to reinvigorate job creation and accelerate poverty reduction by improving the economy of the country and effecting economic and social transformation for an inclusive and resilient society.

The Administrators’ Conference was participated by over 100 TTI administrators nationwide.
