For the second consecutive quarter, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) earned the highest approval and trust ratings among government agencies in a recent survey conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia.

According to the 2023 PAHAYAG First Quarter Survey, TESDA got the highest approval among government agencies with 73%, higher than its previous 72% in the last quarter of 2022.

TESDA was followed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) with 69% and the Department of Tourism (DOT) with 68% approval ratings.

Meanwhile, TESDA is also the most trustworthy institution, tying with the AFP with a 60% trust rating, and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) with 55% trust rating.

TESDA Director General Danilo P. Cruz expressed his gratitude to Filipinos for their continued support and to the men and women of TESDA for their efforts in providing quality and relevant tech-voc training to Filipinos.

“It is an honor to be, once again, to be the most trusted and approved government agency. It gives us more reason to continue serving and reaching out to our kababayans as we pursue an area-based and demand-driven TVET,” he said.

Meanwhile, DG Cruz attributed the Agency’s stellar performance in the recent survey to its improved programs and policies such as continuing establishment of more innovation centers, increasing TVET output, the consistently high employment rate of TVET graduates, and the forging of more partnerships with TVET stakeholders, among others.

Currently, there are four TESDA innovation centers located in Cebu, Northern Samar, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Isabela which are ready to provide skills training responsive to the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Further, preliminary results of the 2022 Study on Employment of TVET graduates (SETG), the TVET sector has posted an employment rate of 84.72% for TVET graduates.

In 2022, TESDA also forged over 600 partnerships with local and international stakeholders to further strengthen the TVET sector in the country. It has also continued to establish Industry Boards for the industry to have an active role in TVET governance.

It can be recalled that TESDA has expressed its optimism to reach its target to train 1.8 million Filipinos in 2023.

Further, TESDA spokesperson Deputy Director General Aniceto D. Bertiz said that the Agency is ready to respond to the reskilling and upskilling needs of Filipino workers.

“We commit to improving our existing programs and services by providing quality and relevant skills training to Filipinos,” Bertiz said.
