The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) is set to hold the 2023 Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC) with the help of various industry partners.
TESDA Director General Danilo P. Cruz said that the 2023 PNSC will be conducted from March 27 to 31, wherein the opening ceremony will be held at the TESDA Auditorium in Taguig City.
Further, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma will deliver his keynote message as the guest of honor for the 2023 PNSC opening ceremony.
“The PNSC is a competition that serves as a venue to recognize the skills excellence of young industry-skilled workers and graduates of technical vocational schools and training centers,” DG Cruz said.
Over 150 competitors nationwide will gather and compete in 18 different skill areas. These skill areas are 3D Digital Game Art, Automobile Technology, Beauty Therapy, Cooking, Electrical Installations, Electronics, Fashion Technology, and Graphic Design Technology.
Other skill areas are Hairdressing, Information Network Cabling, IT Network System Administration, IT Software Solutions for Business, Mechanical Engineering CAD, Mechatronics, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Restaurant Service, Web Technologies, and Welding.
For this year, there will be more industry participation for the conduct of 2023 PNSC, as more than 20 industry partners have been tapped for the successful conduct of the event.
Winners of the 2023 PNSC will have the chance to represent the Philippines in the upcoming 2023 ASEAN Skills Competition in Singapore.
Section 30 of the Republic Act 7796 (TESDA Act of 1994) states that TESDA, with the active participation of private industries, shall organize annual skills olympics to promote quality skills development in the country in view of participating in international skills competitions.
