The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) earned the highest approval and trust ratings among government agencies, according to the results of the PAHAYAG 2022 End of the Year (P-EOY 2022) survey conducted by PUBLiCUS Asia.
The survey showed that TESDA got the highest approval among government agencies with 72%, higher than its previous 68% rating in the third quarter survey.
TESDA was followed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) with 68% and the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and Department of Tourism (DOT) with 65% each.
Likewise, TESDA was the most trusted government agency with a 60% rating, higher than its third-quarter rating of 56%. It was followed by DepEd and AFP both with 57% trust ratings.
While TESDA has consistently been among the top government agencies in the PUBLiCUS Asia surveys, this is the first time in 2 years that the Agency has excelled in both trust and approval ratings.
“I thank Filipinos for their continued support of TESDA. We commit to improving our existing programs by providing quality and relevant skills training to Filipinos,” said TESDA Director General Danilo P. Cruz.
The TESDA head attributed the Agency’s stellar approval and trust ratings to its commitment to continue to improve its programs and services to better serve Filipinos as the country is opening up post-COVID-19 situation.
Also, TESDA was recently transferred back as an attached agency of the Department of Labor and Employment through Executive Order 5, which is a move expected to consolidate the strengths of both agencies in addressing the perennial issue of skills-job mismatch.
TESDA is eyeing the integration of its Registry of Certified Workers, the Registry of Skills Priorities, and the PhilJobNet of DOLE. This is envisioned to become a centralized database for job-seekers to access the current skills priorities of employers for a seamless job-matching process.
As part of the present administration’s thrust on agriculture, TESDA continues to prioritize fund allocation towards food security by increasing fund allocation to the agriculture, fishery, and forestry sector.
At the same time, TESDA has been forging partnerships and linkages with local and international partners and stakeholders to ensure that the country’s tech-voc sector is at par with international standards.
The PUBLiCUS Asia PAHAYAG 2022 End of the Year survey was conducted from November 25 to 30 with 1,500 respondents nationwide.
During the first quarter survey, TESDA got a 65.8% approval rating and a 49.9% trust rating. In the second quarter survey, TESDA earned an approval rating of 72% and a trust rating of 60%.
