The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) got the highest approval rating anew for its performance among government agencies, according to the third quarter survey of PUBLiCUS Asia.

The 2022 third quarter PAHAYAG survey showed that TESDA ranked first in approval ratings with 68%. It was followed by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) with 67% and 65% approval ratings respectively.

Likewise, TESDA maintained a high trust rating of 56%. The Agency ranked second behind the AFP with 57%.

TESDA Director General Danilo P. Cruz attributed the Agency’s high approval and trust ratings to its continued and improved delivery of skills training and livelihood programs to Filipinos.

“I would like to thank all our kababayans for their continued support of TESDA. Rest assured that TESDA, especially now that it is an attached agency of DOLE, will have more improved programs and services which will help significantly to address the perennial problem of skills-job mismatch,” said Cruz.

The survey was conducted nationwide covering 1,500 respondents during the period of September 16-20, 2022.

For this year, TESDA consistently landed among the most trusted and admired government agencies in Publicus Asia's quarterly surveys.  During the first quarter survey, TESDA got a 65.8% approval rating and a 49.9% trust rating.

Further, during the second quarter survey, TESDA gained a 72% approval rating and a 60% trust rating.

Since DG Cruz was appointed as TESDA chief in July, the Agency has tallied 134,149 enrollees under its scholarship programs, of which 115,975 have graduated.

TESDA, through its National Language and Skills Center (NLSC), has earlier expressed its intention to offer additional language courses such as Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, Italian, and French.

Likewise, when a magnitude 7 earthquake hit Northern Luzon last July, TESDA, together with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) 001 to facilitate the employment and training of victims of the earthquake.
