The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IV-A has so far extended over Php200,000 worth of cash and in-kind donations to their buddy, Region IV-B, which was hit by Typhoon Odette last December 2021.

According to TESDA Region IV-A, aside from the donations, the region has also conducted various activities in response and support to the calamity-affected Region IV-B.

It can be recalled that on December 30, 2021, TESDA Region IV-A Regional Director Toni June Tamayo spearheaded a virtual meeting with the Region’s Executive Committee members to map out initial plans for the immediate actions to its assigned buddy region.

As a result, TESDA Region IV-A delegation headed by TESDA Quezon Provincial Director Gerardo Marasigan, accompanied by Quezon National Agricultural School (QNAS) Administrator, Engr. Ceferino Tolentino, Jr., personally visited the Palawan Province to facilitate the operations for assisting the affected areas in the said province.

The team from TESDA Region IV-A conducted dialogues with different TESDA and local government officials in Region IV-B. As agreed during the dialogue, the team shall be assisting a Tagbanwa IP Community at Brgy. Magara, Roxas, Palawan, one of the communities which was badly swiped out by the typhoon.

As of January 11, 2022, a team of trainers from the various TESDA Training Institutions (TTIs) in Region IV-A who volunteered themselves to offer their expertise in Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Welding, Carpentry, Masonry, and Photo-voltaic System Installation has made their way to Sitio Rancheria, Brgy. Magara, Roxas, Palawan. 

They are tasked to assist the Palawan province to facilitate and implement training-cum-production programs in TESDA’s overall effort help rehabilitate these badly-hit communities in line with its mandate of providing skills trainings.

In response to disaster-hit areas, TESDA has been providing reliefer and skills trainings as part of its “TESDAmayan” initiatives created under the leadership of Secretary Isidro Lapeña. ###
