TESDA Region XII has committed to help rebuild a chapel in Surigao City that was destroyed by typhoon Odette.

The regional office has already donated several sheets of galvanized iron (yero) and other construction materials to immediately rebuild St. Anthony de Padua in Barangay Punta Bilar that also served as a shelter for 34 families before typhoon Odette struck.  A batch of TESDA workforce—both graduates and trainees of Carpentry, Electrical Installation and other construction-related TESDA programs—will immediately be deployed to help in the reconstruction of the chapel.

TESDA South Cotabato and TESDA XII, thru Provincial Director Alfredo Panuela, Jr. and TESDA Regional Director Rafael Abrogar II, respectively have also donated cash for the chapel’s repair.

“I would like to thank TESDA Region 12, the South Cotabato Provincial Office and to all who are not from here but has offered to help rebuild our chapel. And I thank God for you because He used you to strengthen our faith and our belief that we will be able to rebuild the chapel immediately,” said chapel president Jocelyn Taer.

The deployment of TESDA teams and aid to the typhoon affected areas is part of TESDAmayan initiative in the government’s immediate recovery efforts through a well-coordinated, faster and more efficient delivery of assistance to the typhoon victims.
