The TESDA Provincial Training Center in Palawan, in coordination with TESDA Provincial Office conducted TESDAmayan services on December 29 at the municipality of Roxas, Palawan which was badly hit by typhoon Odette.

A total of 150 relief goods were distributed to the residents of Barangays Poblacion, Magara and Dumarao. The TESDA team was transported to the affected sites courtesy of the Office of Congressman Frederick Abueg of the 2nd Congressional District of Palawan. The team was assisted by Barangay Magara chairman Bernie Valdez who expressed gratitude to TESDA for its continuous assistance and support to the typhoon victims.

Also taking part in the TESDAmayan activity is the Puerto Princesa School of Arts and Trades (PPSAT)—a TESDA Training Institution—that also distributed relief goods in Barangays Tagburos, Liwanag and Matiyaga as well as to other affected residents living near the coastal areas who lost their homes from the typhoon also on December 29. Through coordination with barangay officials, the PPSAT distributed 50 packs of essential goods to Barangay Tagburos and 100 packs in Barangays Liwanag and Matiyaga.

As of December 29, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) of Roxas, in its initial Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis for Typhoon Odette, there 3,824 houses that were totally damaged; 2,749 houses partially damaged and 22,000 families that are affected. MDDRMO OIC Roderick Tingne said that they welcome the much-needed assistance from TESDA specifically in construction skills training to help rebuild their damaged homes.
