TESDA trainees in Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur may soon start their on-the-job training in two locally-based corporation under the Supervised Industry Learning (SIL).
Magnakron Oleo—a coconut-based chemicals producer in Camarines Norte—will soon team up with TESDA Camarines Norte Provincial Office (CNPO) through a Memorandum of Agreement for a SIL with TESDA CNPO trainees. The agreement is in line with the discussions between the two parties led by TESDA CNPO Provincial Director Eduardo Bonagua and Magnakron Oleo’s Human Resource Manager Crisanta Armenta on June 1, 2021 to hold an SIL for the TESDA trainees on Shielded Arc Welding, Electronics Products Assembly and Servicing, Electrical Installation and Maintenance and other construction-related qualifications. The internship will take place at Magnakron Oleo’s manufacturing plant based in the municipality of Jose Panganiban. The company has also tapped TESDA for some short courses that are aligned with their manufacturing activities. he training is also in preparation for the company’s expansion that will require a bigger manpower which will boost employment for the province.
Regional Training Center-Pili, Camarines Sur also met with iServe360 Corporation in partnership with Pilipinas Shell to discuss a possible partnership thru SIL. Ms. Benita Nota, human resources supervisor of iServe360 Corporation met with Pili Regional Training Center supervising TESD Specialist Herbert Burabod to discuss an OJT training for auto-mechanic and auto-electrician trainees.
SIL refers to an approach in learning, designed to complement the training gained in the institution with the intention of enhancing the knowledge and skills of a learner through actual application of critical competencies in the workplace. The SIL will help TVET trainees enhance their competencies through an actual workplace experience prior to graduation.
