TESDA Region XII spearheaded the opening of the very first Barangay-led TVET school in SOCCSKSARGEN at Barangay New Cebu, Municipality of President Roxas, North Cotabato. 

North Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco, President Roxas Mayor Jonathan Mahimpit and TESDA Provincial Director Norayah Acas granted the Certificate of TVET Program Registration (CPTR) to the New Cebu Institute of Technology during the school’s Foundation Anniversary. The CPTR certifies the school as the very first TVET institution in the region supervised by a barangay.  

With the CPTR, PD Acas said Barangay New Cebu and other schools in their area will also be able to provide TVET programs to residents and nearby communities. PD Acas adds that Barangay New Cebu is one of the barangays that advocates TVET as the key in addressing the country’s job and livelihood issues. 

During the event, PD Acas, Governor Catamco and Mayor Mahimpit commended Barangay New Cebu which was represented by Barangay chairman Eulogio Embalzado and Barangay council Felmar Lapaz Aguisanto for being one of the most progressive barangays in North Cotabato. Governor Catamco adds that having the first barangay-managed TVET school in the region will enable communities to receive more TESDA trainings in the years to come. At present, Barangay New Cebu is offering Driving NC II and will open more programs this year.
