TESDA Region XI has intensified its agricultural programs with the distribution of starter toolkits on poultry production and the conduct of skills training in Rice Machinery. 

TESDA Davao City/Sur Provincial Office, together with National Food Association and KOICA Rice Processing Center – Matanao, conducted skills training in Rice Machinery Operation NC II in Matanao, Digos City.

Thirty rice mill operators consisting of women, persons with disability and indigenous peoples were chosen as the beneficiaries for the training programs provided by TESDA Technology Institution Regional Training Center – Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center. The training-which started on January 26 and ends in February 23—aims to further enhance the rice farming skills of the participants. The trainees will receive a National Certificate on Rice Machinery Operation after the training. 

Starter toolkits for poultry production were distributed by the TESDA Wangan National Agricultural School (WNAS)to its scholars in Davao City. The trainees—who came from Barangay Marilog Proper in Davao City and Sitio Sicay, Barangay Tamayong, Calinan District—underwent Animal Production Poultry Chicken NC II on February 8 under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP).

TESDA-WNAS also gave starter toolkits to the STEP scholars of “Raise Meat-Type Animals” in Barangay New Valencia, Tugbok District; and in “Raise Organic Small Ruminants” in Sitio Ballah, Barangay Salaysay, Marilog District. The STEP also sponsored scholars in Automotive NC II for the members of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. 

The starter toolkits for Raise Meat-Type Animals and Raise Organic Small Ruminants qualifications consist of wheelbarrow, shovel, weighing scale, knapsack sprayer and plastic pail for the; knapsack sprayer, tubular waterer, tubular feeder, plastic pail and shovel for Animal Production (Poultry Chicken NC II) and Perform Pre-Lay and Lay Activities; and combination wrench, feeler gauge, socket wrench and screw driver for Automotive NC II. 

The scholars expressed gratitude upon receiving their starter toolkits, saying these tools will be a big help as they begin their livelihood in farming.
