TESDA Director General Secretary Isidro Lapeña recently visited TESDA Region XI to observe and discuss some of its latest projects intended for the region.

Together with Deputy Director General Lina Sarmiento and Director Juliet Orozco, Secretary Lapeña witnessed the test run of the Biomass Power Generator Prototype B at the Regional Training Center - Korea Philippines Vocational Training Center Davao in Tibungco, Davao City.
This technology manufactures bio-syngas that is used for engines to provide heat and electricity and it also produces byproducts such as coal and wood vinegar.

The generator aims to provide income opportunities for the indigenous peoples (IPs) since it requires biomass feedstocks that IP farmers can produce through farming Falcata trees, napier grass, sorghum, among others.

There are also plans to use Biomass Power Generator Prototype B in areas that were greatly affected by the recent Typhoon Odette in Dinagat Island, Caraga.

Secretary Lapeña also met with Regional Director Lorenzo G. Macapili, Davao del Sur Provincial Director Adonis Culas, Senior TESD Specialist Engineer Ricky Dabalos and Vocational School Administrator Engineer Melanie Domingo of the Wangan National Agricultural School (WNAS) to discuss the establishment of Small-Scale Poultry Facility for Turkey Production Through Artificial Insemination at WNAS Campus in Calinan, Davao City.

Engineer Dabalos is one of the pioneer trainers who joined the Agro Studies Internship Program in Israel and is now tasked to replicate the technology learned in Israel, specifically on Turkey production through Artificial Insemination.
The state- of- the- art facility will soon be utilized through training cum production in WNAS and will serve as a model training venue in poultry-turkey production.
