A barangay in Nasugbu, Batangas will be lighted up by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) through its Project TOTS (Turn-On-The-Sun).

Batangas Provincial Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC), through the Regional Training Center (RTC) Calabarzon kicked off the five-day Basic Solar Lighting and Charging System training at Barangay Kaylaway.

Barangay Kaylaway is one of the priority barangays under the National Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in the province of Batangas.

A total of 25 residents together with selected barangay officials of the said barangay and two Philippine Air Force (PAF) personnel are currently undergoing training on basic installation, testing, operation and troubleshooting of solar powered lighting and mobile phone charging kit.

The training is designed to enhance their knowledge, skills, and attitude of the trainees in installing Basic Photovoltaic Off-Grid System. 

They will be given with individual solar-powered lighting kits, with provision for mobile phone charging as alternative lighting system and cell phone charging source for a household. 

In addition, trainees also received daily training support fund, internet and personal protective equipment allowances.

TESDA Batangas Provincial Director Gerardo Mercado led its opening ceremony on November 15, which was participated by Ms. Adelia Macaraig of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and CTEC Mr. Joshua Alvaro Zabarte of LGU-Nasugbu. ###
