The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IV-A has signed a partnership with the Calabarzon Cacao Industry Board to strengthen Cacao farming in the region.

Last December 9, TESDA Region IV-A Regional Director Toni June Tamayo and Calabarzon Cacao Industry Board Chairperson Florencio Flores signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the project "TESDA at Cacao IB Kakaibang Samahan Tungo sa Pag Unlad ng Industriya ng Cacao sa Rehiyon ng Calabarzon."

Under the agreement, the two parties will coordinate and collaborate mainly to engage the direct participation of employers, workers, learning institutions and government in the design, development and implementation of an area-based and demand-driven technical education and skills development (TESD).

It also aims to provide more strategic policy reforms in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) aligned to the industry requirements addressing the unemployment and job-skill mismatch.

The Calabarzon Cacao Industry Board is composed of the Laguna Cacao Farmers Association, Rizal Cacao Grower's Industry Development Council, and Samahan sa Industriya ng Cacao na Pangkabuhayan.

TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña had earlier said that the agency will remain steadfast in delivering quality training programs to Filipino farmers especially in the agriculture sector. ###
