Taguig City - To accommodate more outbound Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has opened three more assessment centers for Domestic Work NC II in Region III.
This was in line with TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña’s directive to establish more assessment centers for Domestic Work NC II nationwide to avoid overcrowding in the National Capital Region (NCR).
TESDA Region III inaugurated the Domestic Work Assessment Center in Concepcion Vocational School (CVS) in Tarlac and in the Provincial Training Center (PTC) in Calumpit, Bulacan on May 31 and June 1 respectively.
Likewise, the region has also opened another assessment center on Domestic Work NC II in PTC-Tarlac last June 3.
Lapeña noted that these new assessment centers can now accommodate the applicants in their respective provinces and they will no longer need to go to other provinces just to undergo competency assessment.
“We need to upgrade and provide more assessment centers for Domestic Work. We will ensure that all outbound domestic workers are competent and have the necessary skills to render service to their employers in foreign countries,” he said.
Other assessment centers for Domestic Work NC II in Region III are Regional Training Center (RTC) Central Luzon – Guiguinto, RTC Central Luzon – Mariveles, PTC - Nueva Ecija (Palayan City), and Gonzalo Puyat School of Arts and Trades (GPSAT).
Earlier, Lapeña urged outbound OFWs in the province to undergo competency assessment on Domestic Work NC II at the nearest assessment center in their area to avoid overcrowding in NCR.
OFWs are one of TESDA’s long-time priority clients, and the agency is continuously doing its best to improve the services and programs for them to maintain a high rate of employment overseas.
TESDA Region IV-A has also inaugurated two more assessment centers in CALABARZON. These are the RTC- Calabarzon in Batangas and Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial School of Arts and Trades (JZGMSAT) in Laguna.
Meanwhile, Lapeña also acknowledged that setting-up additional assessment centers under the management of the regional offices will more likely expedite the process of assessment and certification.
“With these assessment centers, outbound OFWs compliance and enforcement to the said requirements will be improved.” ###
