February 12, 2019 - Mandaluyong City. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) was given a special recognition by the Bayan Academy for the agency’s “contributions in building the nation from below through social capital formation.”
The award was given during a ceremony held last February 12 at the Garden Ballroom of the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City as part of Bayan Academy’s 10th anniversary celebration.
TESDA Deputy Director General for Policies and Planning, Rosanna A. Urdaneta, received the award on behalf of the agency and its Director General, Sec. Isidro S. Lapeña.
Bayan Academy Chairman and President, Dr. Eduardo A. Morato, presented the recognition to TESDA for its contributions to the organization’s education and employment advocacies.
“I am glad to learn that TESDA and Bayan Academy have something in common as both of us aim to empower our fellow Filipinos by offering marketable and highly in-demand technical vocational education and training (TVET) programs, to increase their chances of finding employment or engaging in entrepreneurial endeavors,” said Urdaneta in her acceptance speech.
Urdaneta also expressed her gratitude saying, “We were not expecting this as we are simply just performing our mandated functions. Nevertheless, it is an honor and privilege to be bestowed this award from such a prestigious institution.”
The two institutions have been partners since 2009 in providing programs to benefit the Filipino workforce.
Bayan Academy is a social development organization established in 2008 that offers entrepreneurship, management and education training programs and services. It also provides livelihood and skills training courses for development institutions, cooperatives, banks, educational institutions and micro and small enterprises.
