It's summertime and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) are preparing the lifeguards to provide good service in swimming areas like pools and beaches nationwide.

This after the TESDA released the “Implementing Guidelines on the Deployment of Training Regulations (TRs), Competency Assessment Tools (CATs), Assessment Fees for Lifeguard  Services NC ll at Lifeguard Services NC lll."

Recently, the TESDA Board approved the TRs for lifeguards in swimming areas nationwide. The TRs are formed with the assistance of the Philippine Life Saving Society (PLSS).

The TRs for the Lifeguard Services NC ll and NC lll are now included among the courses being offered under the technical vocational institutions accredited by TESDA.

”It’s time we put in place a lifeguard training course knowing how beaches and pools are very popular in the country,” said TESDA Director General Mamondiong. “With a certified lifeguard around, swimmers are not at risk."

The TESDA chief added: “New and existing training programs registered under the No Training Regulations (NTR), or LGU/industry/other government programs relating or leading to Lifeguard Services NC ll and Lifeguard Services NC lll shall be covered by this Circular."

The training regulation is strengthened by the TESDA Board in December 2015.

In order to ensure that the TRs are implemented, Mamondiong directed all the Regional/Provincial Directors to conduct registration and re-registration for the program.

The assessment fee for the Lifeguard Services NC ll is P660 per candidate and P670 for Lifeguard Services NC lll.
