TESDA condemns shooting of agency's provincial director
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has condemned the shooting of Julius Jamero, director of TESDA in Negros Occidental, who was shot and seriously wounded by unidentified gunmen in Talisay City last December 7.
"TESDA is outraged and strongly condemns the shooting and wounding of Julius Jamero, our provincial director in Negros Occidental," said Secretary Guiling “Gene” A. Mamondiong, TESDA Director General.
"This cannot be ignored. We call for prompt investigations to ensure that the suspects are captured and punished," he added.
In addition, TESDA will also be appealing to the National Bureau of Investigation for a deeper probe into the case.
Jamero, 45, was shot seven times and was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City for treatment.
The TESDA provincial director was driving his vehicle after he left the office when he was waylaid and shot along Trangka Street in Barangay Zone 12, reports said.
Witnesses said that the suspects apparently waited for him in the area.
Police said that the motive for the attack is still being determined.
Jamero, of Butuan City, had served as TESDA director of Aklan province before he was transferred to Negros Occidental.
