Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Director General, Secretary Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong has warned Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) involved in syndicates who seek percentage in exchange for a scholarship slot in the government agency.
Mamondiong said that appropriate charges will be filed against TVIs which will be found guilty of their connections with syndicates.
Reports said that several TVIs are giving 30 percent to suspected "operators" as standard operating procedure (SOP) in exchange for scholarship slots in TESDA.
Mamondiong said that it is high time that these syndicates must be stopped following complaints on alleged illegal procedures that have reached his office.
In an effort to stop these syndicates, Mamondiong has intensified the agency's “technical audit teams” which will conduct inspections on the equipment and facilities of TVIs and the Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan (BKKK) project.
The “inspectorate teams” will also become active nationwide aside from the “Tendering System” in which the training institutions submit their bids for scholarship slots in TESDA.
Mamondiong also warned individuals or groups who use the name of TESDA for their personal interest, adding that necessary charges will be filed against them.
The TESDA chief said that the agency will not take for granted the modus operandi of the syndicates.
Mamondiong has urged all provincial and regional offices of TESDA to cooperate with them for the arrest of the syndicates and put them behind bars.
