The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will conduct a surprise inspection at the agency's various training institutions to see to it that the scholarship program is being fully implemented.

TESDA Director General, Secretary Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong said that the National Inspectorate for the Scholarship Program which will conduct the surprise inspection will be divided into three: Group 1 (Luzon and Metro Manila), Group 2 (Visayas) and Group 3 (Mindanao).

Mamondiong said that the inspection aims to check the scholarship program of TESDA under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) and Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA).

“The National Inspectorate shall formulate annual action plan/schedule of inspection; conduct spot check of on-going scholarship program implementation; monitor the progress of scholarship program implementation; determine the veracity of submitted enrolment reports; provide periodic report and policy recommendations for the successful implementation and perform such as other duties and functions inherent in the inspectorate,” according to the TESDA Order signed by Mamondiong.

Mamondiong said that Technical Audit Teams have been formed to inspect the equipment and facilities of the Technical Vocational Institutions (TVIs) and the Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan (BKKK) which enlists scholars in barangays nationwide.

TESDA has also enforced the Tendering System in which training institutions could submit or apply “bids” for scholarship slots in the agency. However, these institutions should first pass the technical audit of TESDA before they could take part in the "bids."
