Mamondiong said that establishing close links with the barangays nationwide would be the most effective way to bring TVET programs at the doorsteps of those deserve them.

“To reduce poverty, we have to create jobs .TVET is the perfect tool for this.  We  just need to find the right  persons to train and give  them the best training  possible. For this program to work, we will require the support of every barangay  leader in the Philippines,” said Mamondiong, during the MOA signing ceremony held at the TESDA Central Office in Taguig last September 27.

Also present during the event were TESDA’s Deputy Director General for TESD Operations  Alvin Feliciano, Deputy  Director General for Policies  and Planning Rosanna Urdaneta,  and several officials of the  LMBP.

Under the agreement, TESDA will conduct skills needs survey in barangays. analyzed the results of these surveys, determine the skills training or livelihood livelihood  programs most appropriate to  the barangay residents, and  coordinate with barangay  officials on the conduct of  skills training.

The LMBP, In turn, will assist in identifying the beneficiaries of the training programs, monitor the delivery of these programs, assist in promoting TVET within the barangay, and  monitor the attendance of  residents in the skills  training programs.

In his message, Atty. Edmund Abesamis, National President  of the Liga ng Mga Barangay  sa Pilipinas, expressed, on  behalf of his association,  their gratitude to TESDA.

“We are accepting this  challenge and pledge our full  support to TESDA and the BKKK  program,” said Atty. Abesamis.
