They hone the skills of the youth, provide employment assistance, upgrade the competencies of trainers and pour funds and other resources for technical vocational training.
They assist fellow tech-voc students by providing training and assessment, and help them find jobs.
These are the Kabalikat awardees and Idols ng TESDA awardees for 2014.
The Kabalikat Awards this year was given to 11 institutions, six corporations and 13 local government units for their outstanding contributions in the conduct and promotion of technical vocational education and training (tech-voc).
Their contributions to TESDA were either through the grant of scholarships, donations of tools and equipment for training, establishment and putting up of training centers and rendering technical assistance in the development of training standards.
For the Idols ng TESDA, 12 tech-voc graduates emerged as winners.
The annual award seeks to recognize individuals, corporations and institutions for their extraordinary efforts to promote and use tech-voc in making an impact on communities and making lives better for the people.
"These graduates, institutions and corporations have shown commitment to tech-voc and using this to effect change and address important needs of society," Secretary Joel Villanueva, TESDA Director general, said.
"They have taken a close look at the most wrenching problems all around them and they said it doesn't have to be this way. They innovated to craft new solutions to vexing challenges and got the job done quietly and successfully. The results are skilled youths, jobs, empowered women, sustainable livelihood and improved communities," Villanueva added.
The winners were feted in a ceremony held at the TESDA complex on August 28, which was graced by Villanueva, Senator Paolo Benigno "Bam" Aquino IV, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz, and TESDA officials.
In his speech, Aquino, the event's guest speaker, lauded the accomplishments of TESDA and the important role played by tech-voc in changing the lives of people and sustaining the development of communities.
"As we recognize the positive effects of providing skills to our people, we could see its bigger impact on the socio-economic development of the entire community," he said.
Baldoz, also chairperson of the TESDA Board, meanwhile, cited the importance of honing the skills of Filipino workers for them to become competitive in the world market.
"Skilled workers are now very much in demand locally and abroad and TESDA is in the forefront in providing them the world-class skills," she said.
