A consultative meeting was conducted with the region’s TVET stakeholders on October 14, 2016 at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Pichon Street, Davao City.
The meeting was represented by the TESDA XI Executive Committee Members, UTPRAS Focals, TVET Association Officers, TVET Stakeholders, and Industry Partners from Region XI Provinces.
The Stakeholders’ Consultation was made more significant with the presence of TESDA Secretary Guiling A. Mamondiong who came with Dir. Alvin S. Feliciano, Deputy Director General for Field Operations.
This consultation served as a venue to engage stakeholders to raise its issues and concern, policy and their recommendation to the betterment of the agency.
Secretary Mamondiong in his message, hoped to make technical education more significant in human resource training. Along the line of making Mindanao the next hub of skilled and highly able technical workers.
He announced that he is planning to have a Mindanao Skills Development Hub to put up in the heart of Davao City, RTC KORPHIL Davao Area is being considered.
Secretary Guiling “Gene” Mamondiong, said that the Personnel and trainees of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will undergo mandatory drug testing in response to the intensified anti-drug campaign of President Rodrigo Duterte.
The very highlight of the event, to the delight of the participants, was his pronouncement of allocating 35,000 scholarship slots for Region XI.
