TESDA holds regional skills need and priorities consultationTESDA Region 7 was the first to launch the Barangay Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan at Kapayapaan the flagship program under the new TESDA Director General, Secretary Guiling A. Mamondiong. This was also attended by DDG Rosanna A. Urdaneta, Hon. Teresa P. Alegado Vice-President, League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Cebu Chapter, Hon. Philip S. Zafra, ABC President, Bohol Vice-Governor, Atty. Dionisio D. Balite.
During the said launching an Inter-Agency Memorandum of Understanding was initiated by TESDA with Department of the Interior and Local Government Region 7, Department of Health Region 7, Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 7 and Philippine National Police-PRO7. This was attended by the Regional Directors of the said national agencies.
The purpose of the said MOU is to solidify and strengthen the commitment of these Agencies in the implementation of the strategies, rehabilitation and retooling programs instituted by the government particularly in its drive to eliminate drug dependency in the country, mainstream these identified sectors to normal society and provide these people and their families with resources and skills to develop them not only as a social but as an economic institution.
Another Memorandum of Understanding was signed by TESDA and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology 7 for a special project for the inmates.
The purpose of the said MOU is to seal the commitment of both parties to implement the TESDA skills training program with the inmates of BJMP 7 with the end objective of preparing them for post imprisonment life by equipping them with capabilities and skills which they can use for economic sustenance for themselves and their families.
All these initiatives are in line and support of the over-all reform and Development Agenda of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte particularly on poverty alleviation/reduction and specifically on his war against illegal drugs.
