Over 200 top young professionals of the country have gathered at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on August 21, for the 2024 Philippine National Skills Competition.

Being held as part of its 30th Founding Anniversary, the competition showcases the most skilled technical vocational education and training (TVET) graduates and trainees in 25 different skill areas.

In his message, newly appointed TESDA Director General Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez emphasized that the skills competition is not just about winning medals but a celebration of hard work, dedication, and excellence of Filipino skilled workers who contribute to the growth of the country’s economy.

“It is our commitment to prepare the next generation of Filipinos to take on the challenges and opportunities ahead of them. By empowering these individuals with the right skills, we are not just preparing them for jobs, but for meaningful careers that can drive the nation’s progress,” the TESDA chief said.

Aside from medals and certificates, gold medal winners will also receive P30,000 while silver and bronze medalists will get P20,000 and P15,000 respectively. Further, Winners in this year’s national skills competition will have a chance to represent the Philippines in the ASEAN WorldSkills Competition which the country will host next year.
