SECRETARY JOEL VILLANUEVA, MMDA General Manager Corazon Jimenez, celebrity friends like Robin da Roza and Avi Siwa, NCR Liga ng mga Barangay members, LGU officials and members of the media took part in the training of SOLAR NIGHT LIGHTS making. Facilitated by My Shelter Foundation along with NGO partners, TESDA trainers and environment advocates the crash course is part of the observance and celebration of Earth Day 2014. Products of the training will be used to light up selected communities in Metro Manila.
The goal of the training course is to demonstrate how easy the technology in the assembly and production of solar lights and how it can be adapted by certain communities as part of a livelihood project. Prior to the crash course, Sec Joel had already immersed himself in the training and his first circuit board assembly took him about an hour to produce.
After the crash course, everyone posed for a "mini-graduation" with only their solar lamps lighting up the stage (see photo within the album).
"There is an unexplained satisfaction when you actually see the light emanating from the solar lamps after all the hard work in building the circuit board and that the technology you used is very earth-friendly. The greater satisfaction, however, is in knowing that the lamp you have produced will make a fellow human being feel a lot safer because the pathway he or she treads is now lighted..."
"Sa TESDA, may choice ka." - SECRETARY JOEL VILLANUEVA
