LIPA CITY, BATANGAS – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), in continuous partnership with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has launched another installment of Tsuper Iskolar Program in Region IV-A CALABARZON on October 4 at the STI Colleges in Lipa City.An initial 533 beneficiaries from the various transport groups in CALABARZON have been identified to avail of this scholarship program.

TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña and DOTR Secretary Arthur Tugade led Friday’s launch which was witnessed by key officials of the provincial government of Batangas.
Among the qualifications or courses offered in the region are: Automotive Servicing NC I, Bread and Pastry Production NC II, Cake Making, Caregiving NC II, Computer System Servicing NC II, Contact Center Services, Cookery NC II, Dressmaking NC II, Driving NC II, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, English Language, Food and Beverage NC II, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding NC II, Hilot (Wellness Massage) NC II, Housekeeping NC II, Korean Language, and Pipefitting.
Meanwhile, the TESDA chief, Secretary Isidro Lapeña said, “TESDA also offers skills training from other sectors like tourism, garments and textiles, information and communications technology (ICT), depending on the skills demand in the area. We are going full blast with our Tsuper Iskolar program nationwide.”
It can be recalled that the TESDA and DOTr have launched this scholarship program in other major parts of the country, the first one in Pangasinan. The National Capital Region (NCR), Davao, and Cebu have also rolled out the program in previous months.
The transport associations present during the event were Batangas Transport Cooperative (BATRASCO), Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines (FEJODAP) and the Rigid Transport Service Cooperative (RTSC).
Tsuper Iskolar beneficiaries, or their dependents who may be affected by the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program, aside from free skills training and assessment, shall also receive Php 350 daily transportation and food allowance. The scholarship package also includes free entrepreneurship training (for Cluster of Competencies (CoC) qualifications) to fully equip the scholars and complement their newly-acquired skills.
“Tsuper Iskolar,” the scholarship program initiative of DOTR and TESDA was forged through a Memorandum of Agreement signed last December 2018, in line with the Stakeholders’ Support Mechanism Component of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
